A variety of services are available through the Capital Area JobLink Career Center System. Not all services are available at each Center. Select a specific Center from the JobLink Centers section of this web site to see which of the following services are offered at that location. Some of the services listed are offered on a limited basis. Please call in advance for the times these services are available.


  • Assessment Services    [Skip to Books]

    An initial assessment of customer needs and desired services from the JobLink Center is determined during an orientation to the Center. Customers can request basic assessments of career/vocational interests, skills and assistance in setting employment goals. Customers can also access a variety of self-assessment tools on-line. More in-depth educational, occupational skills and aptitudes assessments may be available through Partner agencies.

  • Business Days    [Skip to Career Information and Guidance]

    On Business Days individual employers come on-site to the JobLink Center to recruit qualified employees. Business Days are advertised throughout the JobLink Center and on the web site to make job seekers aware of these opportunities to network with employers. Check our Calendar to see scheduled Business Days.

  • Career Information and Guidance    [Skip to Construction Plan Room]

    Career information, in addition to limited guidance and advising, are provided as needed or requested to help customers explore career opportunities and associated educational requirements. A career information system providing accurate and up-to-date information on North Carolina occupations and training sites is available on-line. Additionally, books, periodicals, and other career guidance publications are available in the Center. More in-depth career development may be offered through Partner agencies.

  • Construction Plan Room    [Skip to E-mail Services]

    The Construction Plan Room services the needs and requirements of prime construction contractors and minority, women and small-business contractors.

  • E-mail Services    [Skip to Education and Training Information]

    E-mail services are available free through the JobLink computers to customers for use in their job search activities.

  • Education and Training Information    [Skip to Electronic Services]

    A comprehensive listing of colleges and universities within the local area, as well as the state and nation is available on-line. Information on local college curricula and continuing education courses is also available. Information on classes sponsored by the JobLink Center and local community colleges is available as these classes are scheduled. Information on other training resources in the community is also made available to JobLink customers. Additionally, staff provide information on possible financial aid resources to support training needs.

  • Electronic Services    [Skip to Fax, Copy, and Phone Services]

    Electronic services are available to make the job search easier and more effective by providing access to job listings across the state and nation. Customers can also learn about services provided throughout the community, research training opportunities and financial support for education and training, create an effective resume, and access current labor market information.

  • Fax, Copy, and Phone Services    [Skip to Group Services]

    Fax and copy services are available for cover letters, resumes, and job applications to potential employees in response to electronic and hard copy job leads. Limited use of both the fax machine and copier is free to JobLink customers for job search related activities. Phones are available for customers to use to contact employers, inquire about applications and conduct phone interviews.

  • Group Services    [Skip to Information Sessions]

    Where practical, the Center or its Partner agencies may provide customer assistance to participants in a group setting. Examples of these kinds of services include orientations, unemployment insurance filing, computer literacy classes, job seeking skills workshops, and support groups.

  • Information Sessions    [Skip to Job Fairs]

    Information Sessions are offered on topics that will help job seekers in their overall goals. Sessions may include: credit counseling, job transition information, training programs, Workforce Investment Act services, Partner agency resources, etc.

  • Job Fairs    [Skip to Job Listings]

    The JobLink Career Center offers job fairs periodically to assist employers in finding qualified workers and to give job seekers the opportunity to network with employers.

  • Job Listings    [Skip to Job Search Assistance]

    Information is provided on job openings in the local labor market, as well as across the state and throughout the nation, via Internet access on the Center's customer dedicated computers. Job listings are also available through JobLink OnLine. Click on the JobLink Online icon shown on the left to access these job listings.

  • Job Search Assistance    [Skip to Labor Market Information]

    Staff members assist customers with organizing their job search, preparing resumes and cover letters, identifying appropriate job leads, completing applications, and preparing for interviews as requested and/or needed.

  • Labor Market Information    [Skip to Notary Public]

    The JobLink Center sponsors, individually or jointly, many practical, job seeking skills classes and workshops on-site. Examples of some of these are: ABE/ GED classes, resume writing, and interviewing techniques. More information about classes and workshops, including those offered by Partner agencies, is available on the web site under the Calendar.

  • Notary Public    [Skip to On-Site Classes and Workshops]

    North Carolina Notary Public available onsite to notarize employment related documents with valid identification.

  • On-Site Classes and Workshops    [Skip to One-on-One Services]

    The JobLink Center sponsors, individually or jointly, many job seeking skills classes and workshops on-site. Examples of some of these are ABE/GED classes, Customer Service Training, Interpersonal Skills Training, Resume Writing, and Interviewing Techniques. More information about classes and workshops is available on the web site under the Calendar.

  • One-on-One Services    [Skip to Pacesetters Program]

    Upon a customer's initial visit to the Center, he/she is oriented and acclimated to the JobLink resources through an overview of all services and resources available. From this point forward, individualized assistance, whereby a customer receives specialized assistance based on the unique needs of the individual, may be obtained. With JobLink team members possessing a variety of specialties, the Center utilizes the skills and knowledge of each particular team member in serving customers' needs.

  • Pacesetters Program    [Skip to Rapid Response Information/Assistance (Employer Service)]

    The year-long Pacesetters Program is designed to help 100 percent of those dreamers succeed by putting them on a fast track to realizing their full potential. In turn, it is expected that these businesses will create new jobs and serve as role models for other entrepreneurs in the area.

  • Rapid Response Information/Assistance (Employer Service)    [Skip to Recruitment Assistance (Employer Service)]

    JobLink staff can assist employers with information on downsizing and helping their employees find other jobs. Teams of JobLink Partners and JobLink staff are available to go on-site to answer questions and provide information to employers and job seekers when these layoffs occur.

  • Recruitment Assistance (Employer Service)    [Skip to Resource Center/Business Library]

    Staff are available to assist employers in recruiting qualified workers through Business Days, job listings, job fairs or other mutually agreed upon methods.

  • Resource Center/Business Library    [Skip to Resume Preparation]

    The Business Link Resource Center/Business Library has features and services RBTC members can take advantage of when away from their offices or while traveling.

  • Resume Preparation    [Skip to Self-Help Resources]

    Customer assistance is available for organizing, formatting, and constructing an appropriate resume for job searching. Resources include Winway Resume software, Microsoft Word and suggestions, as needed from the JobLink staff.

  • Self-Help Resources    [Skip to Spanish/Foreign Language Services]

    Self-help resources for JobLink customers may include computers with Internet access, WinWay Resume software, a typing tutorial, Microsoft Office tutorials, and a North Carolina Careers exploration system. The computers also offer a variety of tools for job/training seekers. Resource libraries of books, catalogs, periodicals, journals, newspapers, and brochures are available for use in the Centers. Employment related videos are available at select sites. Customers can use these resources to assist them in their job search.

  • Spanish/Foreign Language Services    [Skip to Specialized Services]

    Staff are available on a limited basis to provide job search information and assistance in Spanish. Interpreters can be arranged for services in other languages as well. Please call the Center in advance to arrange for these services.

  • Specialized Services    [Skip to Support Services Information/Referrals]

    Customers can participate in programs and services tailored to meet the special needs of individuals, including disabled and dislocated workers, veterans, older workers, and economically disadvantaged persons.

  • Support Services Information/Referrals    [Skip to Tax Credit Information]

    Support service information is available to provide job seekers with information on a range of integrated services and programs to enhance their job search and employment, ensuring success in the working environment. JobLink staff members are knowledgeable of support services that may be offered through Partners or other community programs or agencies to assist customers.

  • Tax Credit Information    [Skip to TeleTypewriter Device (TTY)]

    Tax credit information is available to employers who hire qualified recipients who have difficulty obtaining and retaining jobs. Tax credits are available as a strategy designed to help job seekers most in need of employment gain on-the-job experience and move toward economic self-sufficiency.

  • TeleTypewriter Device (TTY)    [Skip to Unemployment Insurance Claims]

    A telephone system, used by individuals who are hearing impaired. This device is available to deaf and hard of hearing jobseekers during regular JobLink hours. Instead of speaking into a phone, the persons communicating with the TTY type messages into a device (TTY). The other person on the line instantly is able to see the printed message and types a message back.

  • Unemployment Insurance Claims    [Skip to Voice Mail Services]

    The Employment Security Commission has an assigned representative on-site at the JobLink Center to assist customers needing to file a basic unemployment insurance claim. Customers should allow at least two to three hours to complete the unemployment claim process and should call in advance for scheduled times for filing claims.

  • Voice Mail Services    [Skip to Wake Area Business Advisory Council (Employer Service)]

    A limited number of voice mailboxes are available for customers needing to receive telephone calls from prospective employers during job search activities.
