Who do you serve?
- How long does it take to be seen by a JobLink staff?
JobLink staff serve customers on a first come, first serve basis. Wait time depends on the number of customers in the Center at a time.
- Does the JobLink Career Center pay for training?
No, the JobLink Career Center does not provide funding for training, but it does offer many classes and workshops at no charge or for a nominal fee. See our Calendar for a listing of these classes. JobLink Career Center staff can also provide information and referrals to Partner agencies who may offer financial assistance.
- Do I need an appointment to come in?
No. Customers are seen on a first come, first serve basis.

The JobLink Career Center can connect businesses to resources where information about tax credits and incentives can be found. Check under the Employers section for these links.
- What kind of financial assistance can you give me?
The JobLink Career Center does not offer financial assistance although several of its Partner agencies do. For more information on these agencies, see our Partners section.
- Do you help people get jobs?
The JobLink Career Center is a resource for you to use during your job search or career exploration. We do not get you a job; however, staff is available on-site to advise you during your job search.
- What type of training do you offer?
The JobLink Career Center sponsors, individually or jointly, many practical, job seeking skills classes and workshops on-site. Examples of some of these are: ABE/GED, resume writing, interviewing skills, interpersonal skills, etc. Be sure to check out our Calendar for a schedule of these classes. NC Stars is also available on-line to provide you with information on certified training providers.

- What is the JobLink Center all about?
The JobLink Career Center was designed to assist both job/training seekers and businesses with their workforce needs. Computers are available for customers to access job listings, write resumes or conduct labor market analysis. Agencies with various vocational resources are Partners in the JobLink Centers. See our Partners section for a listing of the Partners associated with Services offered by the JobLink Career Centers are described under Services on our web site.
- What is the Workforce Investment Act?
The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 created a new environment for people seeking jobs and financial assistance for training. WIA replaced the Job Training Partnership Act (1983-1999). WIA places an emphasis on universal service, accountability, customer choice, and integration of service through a one-stop approach where service partners join together in the JobLink Career Centers. Persons seeking WIA funding for training, even though they may meet the program entrance requirements, are not considered for training until completing certain requirements, which can include job search, assessment, development of an individual employment plan, and other activities. Workforce Investment Act services have three major components: Core, Intensive and Training. - How do I place a job order?
There are two methods of placing job orders:
1) Fax the job order to a JobLink Center. Fax numbers are available under the JobLink Centers section.
2) Job Orders can be filled out online using JobLink OnLine. Click on the JobLink OnLine icon to access this service.
- Can I get assistance updating my resume?
There is staff available at the Center that can give you advice on your resume, as well as many books that may assist you. Each computer is equipped with a resume-writing package that will also provide assistance. Although Center staff will offer you assistance on your resume, we do not offer a resume writing service.

- Who do you serve?
We serve anyone and everyone - people who have jobs and want a better job, people who are recently unemployed, people who have been out of the workforce for a long time or people who have never entered the workforce.
